The Roots:
The roots of Unlimited Tennis were formed back in Bernadsville, NJ. when Steve Tourdo was 10 years old and he won his first tournament. He enjoyed winning and was attracting considerable local attention. At the age of sixteen Steve was approached by a local businessman to help him with his game.
"My first student challenged me to learn how to simplify the process of hitting a tennis ball. I did what I could to help this gentleman play better tennis- but his success was minimal. Since my knowledge was not vast or organized, it was difficult to provide a solid base for this student to grow."
Present:
Since then, he's improved his craft a bit:
"I've been lucky enough to have played and taught around the world. I managed to get world rankings in both singles and doubles, write a doubles tactics book and release a stroke production DVD. I've coached a university team and been director at a tennis club. But what's most rewarding for me is helping players understand what's happening on the court so they can get beter results. I find tennis to be a multi-dimensional game that parallels life.
Each player brings a different personality, level of athleticism and focus to the court. The trick is to work with each unique student to help them maximize their physical and mental potential to get consistent results while having fun."
Helping Students Improve:
The journey begins with a conversation to discover the wants of the student. Then, Steve asks a whole bunch of questions to help understand what's going on in the mind of the student and he watchs them hit some strokes to see if what's in their mind (or not) is coming through their hitting/execution patterns.
"Sometimes the route in is through stroke production and other times it's through tactics. We don't "change" anything so the student has no loss. I merely show the student another option. With more options to choose from, the student naturally gravites towards the options that make best use of the laws of physics and are most apt to lead to the results they desire."
Through increased understanding of what's happening on the court, students are able to build a solid foundation of knowledge that permits them to shift focus to what's important.
"
20% of activity produces 80% of results. Most players don't get the results they're capable of because they don't know what to focus on."
So how can you tell if YOU know what to focus on? You know what to focus on if your game continues to get better. The more you play, the better you should get. If this is not the case for you, perhaps Steve can help by showing you how to get back on the road to improvement.
"Most likely, I can help you develop a better understanding of tactics for singles or doubles and show you how to make best use of your physical ability to execute the strokes you need to win. The process is simple and fun."
